Keep Calm & Carry On… or will it?

September 23, 2011

There’s a current uproar surrounding the trademarked slogan, ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’.

The slogan was produced during the spring of 1939, prior to the devastation that ensued with the Second World War.

Trademarks give companies a secure identity, which can be in the form of text or a logo, which symbolise brand values. These ‘symbols’ play an essential role in the decision-making process from consumers.

“No matter what marketplace you operate in; no matter the size and scope of your firm; a registered trade mark is simply a must for your business.”

“It will protect, differentiate and add-value to what you do – and therefore make your business stand out in the crowd.”

40 tips for managing your time and money

June 27, 2011

Computer Arts have done a great article gathering different designers’ thoughts and asking their personal advice for tips on how to manage your time and money.

Write things down! – An important tip that jumped out at us was to write a to-do-list.

During the day you will generate new ideas or new work orders will come your way. Write it all down and organise these jobs based on priority. It will help you to schedule your day, reduce stress and minimise the chances of forgetting what you need to do, no matter how big or small.

Great advice, Great read!! Check out the other 39 here and if you can add any, please share them in the comment box.

We Feel Fine

June 22, 2011

Do you feel fine?… We feel fine!

Since 2005, We Feel Fine has been scouring phrases and comments relating to feelings from world wide weblogs –      An exploration of human emotions on a global scale.

They have a program that is sourcing 15,000 -20,000 new feelings per day and are stored on a database that stores each individual feeling posted by an individual. This is an ongoing project and will evolve as peoples emotions and feelings change.

Ever wondered,

Are Europeans happier than Americans?

Does rainy weather affect how we feel?

Which are the happiest cities in the world?

Well now those questions can be answered.

The data is sorted into particles and each particle represents the feeling it is expressing by colour, size, shape and opacity. The blog sentence can be revealed by clicking on the particle.

Fantastic website and marvellous project – definitely worth a look.
