London Marathon

February 7, 2011

Louise & Chanade prepare for the London Marathon!

Louise and Chanade are preparing to run the London Marathon this year! They are going to be running the Marathon on 17th April this year in aid of raising money for the Joseph Foote charity.

The marathoners will be dressing as City Gents, complete with bowler hats, brief cases and umbrellas! The Joseph Foote charity was formed in 2001 after Joseph Foote was diagnosed with a brain tumour aged only 21⁄2. The cancer, after multiple surgeries & treatments, kept returning & eventually claimed his life aged just 9. The charity raises money to support Nottingham University into defeating this dreadful

There are 48,000 Brain Tumours diagnosed in the UK each year
Only 9,000  survive (20%) and 39,000 people die each year
Prostate Cancer 77% survive
Breast Cancer 82% survive

Brain Tumours kill more people under 40 than any other Cancer, yet it only receives 1% of National Cancer Research spending

Leukaemia has see the survival rate go from 10% to 50% over the past 10years just through awareness campaigns and fundraising

We can do the same…

The Joseph Foote Charity is launching a National Campaign to:

1. Join all Brain Tumour Charities together
2. Fund a National “Critical Path” for targeted research
3. Lobby Government for more research funding
4. Raise the survivak rate from 20% to 90% over the next 10years

Joseph Foote need to raise £2million per year to achieve this goal, and with your help they can do it!
